What is the Sequoia service?
Sequoia is a new service that has been designed to support people with complex emotional needs and personality difficulties (CEN/PD). The Sequoia service is an NHS commissioned service that is delivered in partnership between Rethink Mental Illness and AWP Partnership Trust. At the heart of Sequoia is lived experience, it’s been built from the ground up with input from experts by experience throughout.
Who is the Sequoia service for?
Sequoia is open to everyone aged 18+ in our communities with complex emotional needs / personality difficulties – emerging, mild up to moderate. The Sequoia service is for people able to work in a group setting. For example - be able to manage feelings and communication. Sequoia welcomes people from all backgrounds.
What interventions are Sequoia offering?
The Sequoia service offers three main group support options that you’ll be able to choose from.
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) informed group.
- Peer Support groups.
- Understanding Yourself and Others - an educational group.
You will be invited to a Welcome Session where staff will help you choose between these options. Before each intervention, staff will meet with you to discuss the intervention in more depth and check it is the right option for you.
What is a Welcome Session?
A welcome session is an opportunity for you to learn about the interventions the Sequoia service have on offer. There will be a brief presentation followed by an opportunity to discuss your needs with one of the the Sequoia service Team. Click this link to Welcome Session page
