Sequoia is open to everyone in our communities who has complex emotional needs or personality difficulties (CEN/PD). Each person is thought about individually and Sequoia has some broad criteria for who is best suited to our support.
- People 18+ with no upper age limit.
- People with complex emotional needs / personality difficulties – emerging, mild, up to moderate. The person doesn't need a formal diagnosis.
- People without a diagnosis of dementia or significant neurological impairment.
- We aim for the person to be able to keep themselves safe within their current support network.
- The person's drug and alcohol use must be stable and/or not in active addiction without support.
- The person is able to work in a group setting. For example - be able to manage feelings and communication, so as not to harm others in the group.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and communities. We are aware CEN/PD can present differently within different communities. If you are a professional working with someone with CEN/PD and are not sure if the person you are working with would be able to get support from Sequoia, please get in touch. Professionals referring people can use the Standardised Assessment of Severity or Personality Disorder (SASPD), to help determine the level of difficulties.
Sequoia is opening gradually to referrals across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. To find out more please go to this page. If you have any questions please get in touch via email - awp.sequoia@nhs.net
