Sequoia

A service for people with difficulties associated with personality disorders and complex emotional needs.

How to pronounce "Sequoia":
suh·kwoy·uh

The name "Sequoia" comes from the Sequoia tree, these are towering redwood trees. Sequoias are the largest trees on Earth. The name was chosen as these trees represent strength, the ability to cope with adversity, and a life lived best in communities.

Our story...

Sequoia has been developed to support those people who currently fall through the gap between primary and secondary care. In partnership between AWP and Rethink Mental Illness, it offers a choice of psycho-social interventions to people with emerging, mild or moderate difficulties.

Services we offer...

We believe that people having choice makes the support we offer more effective. Sequoia offers education, peer support and skills based interventions. All of these are delivered in groups, as evidence shows groups are a really effective way of supporting people. A lot of people we meet don't like the idea of groups but we find once people join a group they being around other people who are similar to them really helpful...

What our service users think...

"There's no better feeling than being in a group where you get that mutual understanding and finally, you're with people that are similar to you and have similar experiences."

"I can 100% recommend the course to others. It is opening eyes and opening head, for many stuff, in the normal life you can use. For me using English as my 2nd or 3rd language the course was really clear, including the information I was sent. It was easy words to understand for someone using English as second language”
